Level Up - Adventurers Guide.pdf ((INSTALL))
Speaking of, leveling up is just Pathfinder's style of "everyone is a 5E warlock now". Every level you are picking, at minimum, one new thing. You rarely, if ever, just get a feature, but instead pick one from a chart. I was really excited for this, and I still am in a way. Every class has flavorful "social" tier abilities, so Barbarians have a reason why society is fascinated by them, and Fighters get a coping skill for the horrors of war. Super cool. But building a character is SO overwhelming and complex it's probably better to go with Pathfinder 2nd Edition rather than this system, as multiple times I came across features I was...dubious as to the balance of.

This PDF version of the book offers over 300 pages of new D&D5e sub-systems (resource system, sailing system, magical tattoos, and more), player options, unique monsters, all tied together in an epic Dungeons and Dragons 5e adventure campaign encompassing levels 1 through 20.
To Hell and Back Again takes a single character from level 1 through 3 which (after levelling to 4th at the end) makes the solo PC roughly the equivalent of a 1st-level party and ready to take on the first chapter of Descent Into Avernus.
In my playthrough of Descent Into Avernus, I picked up various NPCs, each lasting a few levels before they faded out of the story. I thought this worked well and was really fun trying to figure out who might make a good buddy and what their motivation was. I mainly just used the stat blocks, but I did try building one of them as a full PC with the Character Builder but found that a stat block felt more appropriate.
Alias (二つ名 Futatsuna): An alias is a second name given to all adventurers during the Denatus by the Gods once they reach Level 2. An alias can potentially change every time an adventurer levels up. Certain Gods take advantage of the naming process to give chuunibyou type aliases to adventurers from weaker familia for entertainment purposes, however as there is a difference in how the children perceive them, they consider it to be cool.
Supporter (サポーター Sapōtā): Supporters are people that explore the dungeon along with adventurers. They carry many things ranging from magic stones dropped from monsters to spare weapons and items. New familia members can serve as supporters to older familia members to gain experience in the dungeon. In some cases, members of a familia may serve as supporters to the more experienced members.
Familia (ファミリア Famiria): Familia are made up of adventurers and supporters headed by a God or Goddess. They are named after the God or Goddess in charge, such as Hestia being the head of the Hestia Familia. Most familia are exploration type familia, though there are other types such as business type, industrial type, medicinal type, and even nation type. Each familia is given a rank ranging from I to S based on size and achievements, which is taken into account in determining how much money each familia has to pay the Guild during their monthly taxes. Certain familia, like the Hermes Familia, don't report rank ups to avoid paying more, however this is illegal. When an exploration type familia reaches rank D, they are required by the Guild to start going on expeditions.
Denatus (神会(デナトゥス) Denatusu): The Denatus is a meeting of the Gods held once every three months. Many things are discussed and aliases are given to adventurers that leveled up.
Falna (神の恩恵(ファルナ) Faruna): Falna is the grace, sometimes called blessing, given by Gods and Goddesses to their familia members. Those with a falna gain a superhuman physical prowess upon being bestowed with it and can gather excelia to raise their status and grow even stronger. The Gods gave falna to adventurers to bring forth heroes, and the first God to give out a falna was Ouranos. Inanimate objects can seemingly be given a falna, as Mikoto's skill considered the Hestia Knife to be part of the familia.
The falna itself grants a few enhancements aside from the ones shown in a person's status; namely, heightened senses, longevity, and augmented endurance. This serie of effects are further increased with each level up one achieves. The improvement is also shown to be proportional rather than put everyone at the same level. Beast Humans are known for possessing better senses than most people, and those with falna have been accordingly demonstrated to boast better senses than other people with falna.
Status (ステイタス Suteitasu): Status is the falna set as various parameters. Status is made up from basic abilities, development abilities, magic, skills, and the overall level. It manifests itself physically in a form similar to a tattoo as a mass of text with all its characteristics detailed, as well as the corresponding familia's emblem. In order to protect its valuable contents, Gods have developed a method by which they are able to hide their familia members' statuses, only revealing them for updates. However, since it is all written in hieroglyphs, the language of the Gods, very few mortals are actually able to read it. Only the respective patron God can unveil and update a person's status. Nonetheless, there exist items which allow others to do so, even if they aren't Gods themselves.
Level (レベル Reberu): A level shows the rank of a person. It is the most important part of the status as a person is effectively superior to all those from lower levels in virtually every aspect. However, exceptions do exist as mages seemingly tend to fall behind in terms of physical prowess due to extremely low stats as shown with Lefiya, who only became able to kill a Minotaur, a Level 2 monster, after reaching Level 3. The status of an adventurer is considered to be secret information, but the level of an adventurer is required to be reported and shown to the Guild.
Rank Up (ランクアップ): Rank Up is the act of ascending to a higher level. Just defeating monsters doesn't lead to a level up. To level up, one must have at least a D rank in one basic ability and accumulate enough high-quality excelia that it overflows one's container, thus enabling them to level up.
Leveling up is not automatic; one's God has to consciously make the decision to level up a familia member. Holding off leveling up is a strategy some might do for such reasons as to raise one's basic abilities higher or to unlock development abilities. However, most familias restrain from doing so due to the great boost in one's overall abilities granted by a level up, which has led it to be a practice performed only by strong familias.
Leveling up is hard to do outside of Orario due to the only dungeon being located there, and Level 3 outside of Orario is considered to be excellent. Although leveling up is generally a hazardous task, those who have gained combat skills before receiving a falna are usually able to do so without difficulty.
Upon leveling up a person receives a massive boost in all of their basic abilities. The increase is so big that it is what creates the power gap between levels. Additionally, while it strengthens the person, the suddenly gained power causes a desynchronization between one's mind and body which diminishes their combat ability. Nonetheless, said drawback can be overcome by fighting a strong opponent or a great ammount of enemies in order to grow fully accustomed to one's heightened prowess.
Though most people just raise one level at a time, it is possible to experience multiple level ups at once when enough high quality excelia is collected. However, such an occurrence is extremely rare, with Ryuu being the first person in history to accomplish said feat when she raised from Level 4 to Level 6. When it happens, rather than needing to meet the D rank requirement in the intermediate levels, a person directly reaches the higher level, essentially skipping the other ones. Despite this, a person still gets the possibility of choosing as many development abilities as levels they rise.
Limit Off (限界解除(リミットオフ) Rimitto Ofu): A temporary state in which surrounding conditions combine with emotion to overload the falna. It exponentially increases an attack's power, allowing a person to deliver a strike equivalent to one from someone several levels above their own.
Concurrent Chanting (並行詠唱 Heikō Eishō): A high level technique involving casting magic while fighting or moving around. Its difficulty is likened to dealing with a bomb with both hands while fighting due to the chance of failing a chant or not being able to control their own magic power. Skill at using concurrent chanting depends on how much experience the user has with it, as Lefiya observed that Ryuu was far more skilled at it than Riveria. Currently, Riveria, Filvis, Lefiya, Ryuu, Aisha, Fels, Alicia, Mikoto, Hedin, Hogni, and Alfia have been shown to be able to use it.
Xenos' Hidden Village (異端児の隠れ里 Itanji no Kakurezato): Xenos' Hidden Village are certain Unexplored Areas that the Xenos use to protect themselves from other Monsters and adventurers while searching for other Xenos.
Valis (ヴァリス Varisu): Valis is the currency used in Orario. One can buy a Jagamarukun at 30-40 valis, materials for one meal at 50 valis, and a more expensive meal at a bar for 300 valis. Bell's first dagger cost 3,600 valis, his first armor cost 5,000 valis, and a lowest rank potion costs 500 valis. A party of five Level 1 adventurers can make around 25,000 valis a day, and at 800,000 valis one can buy a good house. Hestia is currently 200,000,000 valis in debt. The symbol for valis is a v with two lines through it. 041b061a72
